Democracy and Governance and Decentralization
The MODEL Praxis worked on a World Bank-funded project called Governance Capacity Enhancement Project (GCEP) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In this project, our activities involved a series of training, coaching and technical assistance given to Provincial Governments in accountability and service delivery. Based on projects developed with our technical assistance and taking into account Provincial development programs, we coached and accompanied Provincial ministers and their teams, as well as Central Government officials, in the process of incorporating accountability in service delivery. The process was designed in a way that involved local governments and population in project design, decision-making and the pursuit of development objectives at the local level.
Leadership and Governance
In post-conflict Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Bank launched initiatives to assist the country in defining its post-conflict priorities. The MODEL Praxis was offered the opportunity to train Central and Provincial Government officials in assessing priorities and the role of leadership in post-conflict situations.
Monitoring and Evaluation
After training Government officials in project development and design, The MODEL Praxis ensured that the execution and implementation led to intended results. Using a results-based monitoring and evaluation methodology, The MODEL Praxis accompanied the various teams involved in each project phase, helping them assess the pursuit and orientation and measuring the effectiveness of the approach implemented by the participants. Together with the teams and ministers and administrators, we were able to track progress and, in the process, analyze and indicate the impact of the projects on the population.
Agricultural Development
The MODEL Praxis Consultants have expertise in agricultural development, as it is indicated in work accomplished in projects funded by various international development agencies, such as FAO, USAID, Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC), the World Bank, and African Development Foundation. Our consultants conducted the design and formulation of research projects on sustainable agriculture in the Central African Region. Another aspect of work accomplished in that country involved the collection and analysis of data as well as the training and technical assistance to local farmers and agricultural technicians in food security. In Senegal, working for an international development initiative, a Consultant trained African Project leaders on the use of participatory rural appraisal tools and techniques.
